If you’re as much of fan of Baltic trivia as I am then you’ll know that Riga is famed for its Gothic Old Town, it’s huge Art Nouveau collections and the stunning countryside landscapes that surround it. Well now we can tell you that it has a café to match its cultural riches!
Back when I was a lowly pot-wash in my early days there was a Latvian dude called Kristaps who used to call in daily and sit on table 4 diligently tapping away working towards his Masters. He was a lovely fella who would always pop over for a chat and was a real pleasure to serve. We really missed him after he returned to Latvia.
Little did we know what he had planned on his return. Imagine our surprise when he contacted us a year or so later telling us that he’d opened a beautiful café and that he wanted to serve his favourite coffee from his time at Lancaster Uni.
We’re a good few months into our journey now with Zvaigzne Cafe and it’s been loads of fun. They like to switch up their espresso offering with a changing menu of our Single Origin which we select work on recipes for alongside Kristaps and Head Barista Peter.
They also have a fantastic selection of retail packs and an inhouse bookshop! With direct flights from as little as £20 what excuse do you have not to make Riga your next coffee adventure?
